Your Complete NREMT Exam Day Checklist

You have studied for weeks, completed your practice exams, and now the day has arrived. Having a clear checklist for NREMT exam day removes last-minute stress and lets you focus entirely on performing your best. Preparation the night before and morning of your test can make a real difference in how confidently you walk into the testing center.

What to Bring to the Testing Center

The most critical item is your valid, government-issued photo ID. Your name on the ID must match the name you used when registering for the exam. Acceptable forms include a driver's license, passport, or military ID. Bring two forms if possible in case one is questioned. You will also need your ATT (Authorization to Test) confirmation, which you should print out or have accessible on your phone.

Leave personal items at home or in your car. Most testing centers require you to store bags, phones, smartwatches, and study materials in a locker before entering the exam room. You are typically not allowed to bring food or drinks into the testing area, though the testing center may allow you to access your locker during a break.

Pre-Exam Logistics

  • Arrive 15 to 30 minutes early to allow time for check-in and security procedures
  • Know the exact address of your testing center and plan your route the day before
  • Have a backup transportation plan in case of car trouble or traffic
  • Use the restroom before the exam begins
  • Eat a balanced meal with protein and complex carbohydrates before arriving

Mental Preparation Tips

Avoid cramming new material on exam day. Instead, do a brief review of key mnemonics or high-yield concepts you have already mastered. Take a few deep breaths before walking into the testing center. Remind yourself that you have prepared and that the CAT format is designed to find your competency level, not to trick you.

During the exam, remember that you cannot go back to previous questions. Give each question your full attention, eliminate obviously wrong answers, choose the best remaining option, and move forward. If a question feels impossibly difficult, it may mean the algorithm is testing you at a higher level because you have been answering well.
