Keep the List Short
EMT-level medications include oxygen, aspirin, oral glucose, nitroglycerin, albuterol, epinephrine auto-injectors, naloxone, and activated charcoal depending on local scope. Learning fewer drugs deeply is better than skimming many.
Use a Consistent Template
For each drug, write its class, mechanism, indications, contraindications, dose, route, and side effects. Create a one-page chart so patterns become easy to see, such as which drugs cause hypotension or require a prescription.
Practice With Scenarios
Apply each drug to patient cases. For example, ask whether aspirin is appropriate for chest pain with a known aspirin allergy. Scenario practice builds the decision-making skill the NREMT tests.
