Continuing Education and NREMT Recertification

Understand how the National Continued Competency Program organizes recertification requirements.

September 26, 2024

The NCCP Model

The National Continued Competency Program divides recertification hours into national, local or state, and individual components. The national component covers core content updated on a regular schedule. Local and individual components give flexibility to meet your system's needs and your interests.

Planning Your Hours

Start early rather than cramming in the last months before expiration. Track course certificates in a folder, and verify that each course is accredited, such as through CAPCE. Online and in-person options can both count if they meet requirements.

Keeping Current

Recertification is a minimum, not a ceiling. Attend conferences, case reviews, and skills labs. Staying engaged keeps you sharp and builds your professional network.
