Indications
Air medical transport is useful when ground transport time is long, when the patient needs specialized care, or when access is difficult. Time-critical trauma, stroke, and STEMI patients may benefit. Follow local criteria for activation.
Landing Zone Setup
Select a flat, clear area about 100 by 100 feet, free of wires, poles, and loose debris. Mark the corners with lights or cones and keep bystanders far back. Report wind direction and hazards to the pilot.
Safety Around the Aircraft
Approach only when signaled by the crew, from the front and in view of the pilot. Stay away from the tail rotor and keep your head low. Secure loose items such as blankets and hats that could be sucked into the rotors.
